WHAT WE BROKER

European Guarantees of Origin and power certificates

Cleanworld has brokered European power certificates since 2008 β€” one of the largest independent inter-dealer brokers on the continent by executed volume. We cover every instrument that proves the renewable origin of electricity, across compliance and voluntary markets. The European GoO market passed 1,000 TWh of issuance for the first time in 2024 β€” and we are active across all of it.

European Guarantees of Origin (GoO)
The EECS-standard certificate traded across the AIB hub β€” one GoO per MWh of renewable power.
Spanish GoOs (CNMC)
GarantΓas de Origen issued by the CNMC, tradable across the AIB hub since Spain joined in 2015.
UK REGOs
Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin for the British market.
Nordic electricity certificates
Elcertifikat from the joint Swedish–Norwegian market.
Swiss GoOs (Pronovo)
Guarantees of Origin issued by Pronovo, the Swiss national registry.
Belgian green certificates
Regional certificates across Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels.
UK Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs)
The UK's long-standing renewable support certificate.
PPA advisory
Structuring and execution support for power purchase agreements.
HOW THE MARKET WORKS

Issued, traded and redeemed across Europe

European Guarantees of Origin follow the EECS standard and move between national registries through the Association of Issuing Bodies (AIB) hub. We broker every step β€” issuance, cross-border transfer and cancellation.

EECS standard
The European Energy Certificate System β€” the common standard behind tradable GoOs.
AIB hub
The Association of Issuing Bodies network that enables cross-border GoO transfer.
National registries
The market-specific registries that issue and cancel certificates.
Cancellation & claims
Final retirement of a certificate against a customer's renewable-electricity claim.
WHAT DRIVES THE MARKET

Compliance and voluntary demand

Power-certificate value is created by corporate climate commitments and disclosure rules alike. We connect supply to both.

Voluntary corporate demand
RE100 commitments and Scope 2 reporting under the GHG Protocol, met with EECS Guarantees of Origin.
Disclosure & reporting
Residual-mix and supplier-disclosure obligations across EU member states.
Compliance schemes
National support and quota systems β€” UK ROCs, Nordic Elcertifikat.
Liquidity across tenors
Spot through to forward curves, with bespoke coverage across all asset classes.
